Overview
The Ford Explorer pioneered the midsize SUV segment and continues to set the standard for three-row family vehicles. The current generation features a rear-wheel-drive-based platform that gives it a more car-like driving experience while maintaining the capability families need for towing boats, hauling gear, and handling Michigan winters.
Technology is a major focus in the Explorer, with a standard 13.2-inch center touchscreen running the latest SYNC 4 system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and available BlueCruise hands-free highway driving. The third row is genuinely usable for kids and shorter adults, and the power-folding system makes switching between passenger and cargo modes quick and easy.
Available with either a 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder or a 3.0L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 producing 400 horsepower, the Explorer can be configured as an efficient family mover or a genuinely quick performance SUV in ST trim.
